Nonprofit · Robotics education & agriculture

Growing young engineers. Building robots that farm.

Cultivate Robotics teaches students to design and build robots, then puts that work to use: affordable robotic tools for small and medium-sized farms.

What we do

Two missions, one field

The students we train today design the farm tools of tomorrow. Each mission feeds the other.

Mission 01 · Education

Spark robotics in young minds

Hands-on robotics for elementary through high school students, with a focus on kids who don't yet have access to a team or a lab.

  • Free and low-cost workshops in schools and libraries
  • Starter kits and mentoring for new robotics teams
  • Real-world projects built around farming problems
Mission 02 · Agriculture

Affordable robots for real farms

Practical robotic tools sized and priced for small and medium-sized farms, not just large agribusiness.

  • Simple, repairable designs built from common parts
  • Priced well below commercial agricultural robots
  • Field-tested with partner farmers before release

Robotics education

From first circuit to field-ready robot

Every program ends with something students built themselves. Older students can join our design team and help prototype the tools we bring to farmers.

Grades 3–5

Seed Lab

Intro sessions with simple motors, sensors, and block coding. Students build a small robot that "waters" a plant when the soil is dry.

Grades 6–8

Sprout Builders

Multi-week club program covering mechanical design, wiring, and programming, with support for starting a competition team.

Grades 9–12

Field Engineers

Students work on real agricultural prototypes alongside mentors, from CAD to field testing, and present their results to partner farmers.

Teachers

Educator Kits

Lesson plans, parts lists, and build guides so teachers and club leaders can run sessions on their own.

For farmers

Tools for the farms that need them most

We start with the jobs that cost small farms the most hours, and build the simplest robot that can do them.

Soil Sense Stakes

Solar-powered sensors that track soil moisture and temperature across a field and send alerts to a phone.

Why affordability matters

Most farm robots are built for the biggest farms.

Commercial agricultural robots are often priced for large operations. Small and medium-sized farmers face the same labor shortages and rising costs, with far less room in the budget. We design for them first: open designs, common parts, and prices a family farm can plan around.
